- Students cannot have more than 3 absences in any class.
-
Students cannot have an unexcused absence for any period. A single period of unexcused absences results in loss of all exemptions.
-
Students must maintain an 85 or above average in a class in order to be exempt.
-
Students with perfect attendance are granted an extra exemption that can be used in any class as long as they have a 70 average.
-
Students who have no unexcused absences will pick up their exemption cards before school and take them to teachers for signatures. Teachers need to check grade averages (85 avg.) and attendance (no more that three). If students meet both criteria, you may sign the exemption card for your class period indicating that they will not be testing.
-
Freshmen and sophomores are eligible for three exemptions (plus the perfect attendance one); juniors and seniors may exempt all classes as long as they meet the grade and attendance requirement. Keep in mind that some 9th and 10th graders may be eligible to exempt four classes if they had perfect attendance. Make sure you take up the perfect attendance pass from the student when you sign off.
-
In the spring we also offer an extra exemption for students who pass all portions of the TAKS Test. It allows them to exempt any test as long as they have a 70 average. With a perfect attendance and TAKS exemption plus the three freshmen and sophomore earn, they can exempt five tests in the spring semester.

Students are required to come to school and check out by 8:40 on both review days and the exam day. If students have to take a test at any time during the day, they may check out after the exam. Only those that plan to be gone all day need to check out by 8:40. Exemption sign-in tables are available at the front door each morning so that students can check in.
