Most scholarship money comes from the colleges. Be sure you apply for scholarships at your college. You do this through the financial aid office at your college as well as through the department in which you plan to major. If you apply online through the common application, scholarship applications are included on that website.
Another large source of money is financial aid. LEARN is a government funded agency that assists students with applying to college and filling out financial aid forms. Our LEARN counselor is Moses Pena. He will visit Cooper High School each month:
Oct 12 & 14, Nov 23, Dec 7 & 8, Jan 14 & 19, Feb 16 & 24, March 29 & 30, April 12 & 13, May 10 & 11
Contact Mrs. Lincecum to set up an appointment, or you may call Moses at (806) 763-4265 to make a personal appointment.
Mr. Pena will hold a financial aid seminar for all seniors and their parents on January 21, 2010. At that time, Mr. Pena and representatives from area lending institutions will be available to answer questions about filling out the FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aide). This informative session will be held in the H.S. Commons at 7:00. There will be lots of fun door prizes given during the training.
The financial aid process will be much easier if you will apply for your electronic PIN number now. It is easy to do and you will use your PIN number every year you apply for financial aid. Go to: http//www.pin.ed.gov
